Commissioning and Retro-commissioning

HVAC commissioning is recognized as an important process for the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of HVAC systems for commercial buildings.  As commissioning becomes more popular—and in the near future, required—it’s that much more important to partner with a mechanical contractor that understands and can perform this key service.

There are three main types of HVAC commissioning.

  • Initial Commissioning: Occurs during the installation in a new building or on a new HVAC system within an existing building
  • Retro-commissioning: Is the first time commissioning has been implemented in an existing building on existing HVAC equipment
  • Re-commissioning: Includes commissioning HVAC systems that were already commissioned during the initial commissioning process, but the owner now wants to verify, improve and document the performance of the existing HVAC systems

Energesco Mechanical has developed a commissioning process whereby steps are taken to ensure HVAC equipment has been installed correctly per engineering and manufacturers requirements and is functioning properly through startup and shut down sequences. During the commissioning process we will test, adjust, and balance equipment to optimize performance, resolving any operating issues we find along the way. Our goals are to extend the life of your equipment when possible, maintain building comfort, and provide utility bill cost savings through increased energy efficiency.
